Having a running coach will reduce the likehood you'll experience an injury because your programme will be structured to minimize risk. Less time injured, means you will train more consistently which will make you a better runner.
You'll learn to train correctly. This means you'll avoid over-training, you'll get the right amount of recovery and rest, each run will have a purpose meaning you'll develop into a stronger runner, you'll also learn correct form.
You'll have support, more motivation, and someone with good experience to offer you the correct guidence. Having someone who keeps you accountable and motivated is going to make a big difference to consistently training so you'll go into your event feeling confident. A coach will provide you with the right advice and will educate you on how to make your body perform at it's optimal level.
You'll have a goal, usually an upcoming event and your coach will build up your training in a logical and safe training load. Having a structured programme will increase your ability to achieve your goal.

Christchurch and anywhere in New Zealand.
You don't need to live in Christchurch to enjoy a personal programme with a Complete Performance Coach you are emailed your personal programme and have regular phone contact to keep you motivated as well as accountable. If you live in Christchurch you can also meet up in person with your coach for sessions to work on your running technique etc or join one of their running group sessions. They also offer nutritional coaching.
From $10 weekly for a personalised programme to $60 weekly for a personalised programme and weekly phone contact with your coach.
There is a $199 inital assessment + you recieve a Complete Performance running top or a vest, and a couple of bonus free group sessions.
These guys have a large pool of coaches available who run a variety of different distances. When you register and advise what your event or goal(s) are they will pair you with the best coach to match your personal needs.
Simon Huntly was my personal coach for 6 months while I trained for the Tarawera Ultra. I had the $39 plan and I would highly recommend having the weekly catch ups on the phone with your coach. I loved the accountability and also the ability to discuss how my training was going and then Simon would adjust my plan as needed plus I got an extra motivational boost if I was having a bit of a lull. I did a running technique session at the start which was invaluable. Complete Performance offer a lot of additional add on's and I appreciated never feeling pressed to do extras so you certainly didn't feel like you were getting the basic package and then getting a hard sell. In all my time running having Simon as a personal coach was the one time I was super focused, dedicated to my training, and actually felt prepared and I gained a huge amount of knowledge.
Richard Greer who heads up the CP team of coaches also joined forces with The Runningskirt Shop to put together a free training plan for our Zero to 50 challenge to run the Bedrock50 Ultramarathon. Richard helped a team of fabulous women who had never run an ultramarathon go from 0 running to 50km in 5 months to train and cross the finish line.

Dr James Kuegler offers a number of coaching options; personalised training plans, group sessions, running workshops and training camps. You can enjoy working with James as your coach from anywhere around the country. He offers workshops and new locations pop up all the time so keep an eye out on his calendar.

James is an exceptually experienced and successful marathon - ultramarthon runner and has multiple coaching qualification up his sleeve and is a Chiropractor.
I attended James's running workshop that was held in Queenstown. It was simply a remarkable experience. I'm naturally a heel striking shuffler when I run and throughout this workshop we did different drills and without being consciously aware of it by the end of the workshop I ran with correct running form- this was a first. The downer was that at the time I attended I was out of action so I didn't continue to put into practise what I had learn't. Next time this is back in town I'll be attending. I think the simplest way to describe his workshop "transforming". James is very welcoming, friendly and has an abundance of knowlege he generously shares.

The personalised programmes are online based and after your assessment you'll be created a programme. Then there are online seminars, newsletters, and access to a knowledge bank you can tap into.
If you need more contact with a coach there is a personal coaching programme where you will be contacted daily via email about your training and have a weekly call.
Lisa also runs women's seminars at various locations during the year.
There are 3 packages available:
$78 per month- you recieve a personal programme, full access to their online platform and community as well as email access to the coaches.
$780 yearly plan- the same as above but it's a little cheaper when you commit for 12 months
$340 per month - daily email contact, a weekly skype talk, your personal programme updated weekly and all of the other benefits of the previous 2 packages
